Carnie Wilson needs no introduction. She has been through weight loss surgery twice, one of them quite recently.
Carnie underwent gastric bypass surgery in 1999 and lost almost 150 pounds of excess body weight. However, she gained back almost two third of this weight again and in January she underwent lap-band surgery. This is a procedure in which a silicone gastric band is placed around the top portion of the stomach to treat obesity. This helps in reducing the amount of foods that one consumes resulting in weight loss.
This procedure was performed on her in January this year and it is now known that since then she has lost around 30 pounds. One of the most important things that she seems to have done is that she has tried to eliminate sugar and flour out of her diet and this can helped control her weight immensely.
She decided to undergo this procedure when she found out that she is a borderline diabetic.
Kudos to her for being so public about her efforts. What is really incredible is that she talks openly about her weight issues and is not ashamed of it. The support she seems to have received is simply amazing.
One of the most interesting things she says is that it is not about looks but about your overall health and I completely agree with her. If you want to lose weight, your primary objective should be to be more healthy. Looks are important but health is supposed to be even more important.
